FAQs

  • Do you take insurance?

Rhythm + Ritual Pelvic Health is an out-of-network provider, which means I am not limited by the restrictions of insurance companies.

This allows me to tailor treatment specific to your needs + your timeline. I get to serve you + not your insurance company.

I am happy to provide a superbill, which can be turned in for reimbursement if you have out-of-network coverage. It’s worth a phone call to your insurance company to learn about your out-of-network benefits + if you are eligible for partial or full reimbursement.

  • Is an internal exam necessary?

Not necessarily. It depends on your concerns + more importantly, your comfort level. The internal assessment doesn’t have to happen at the first session + may be introduced later on.

Different pelvic floor assessments provide different kinds of information, such as how your pelvic muscles are working together to support your organs, pain points, scar tissue, tightness, body awareness, strength + how your body is managing pressure.

There are a few options for the pelvic floor assessment + none of them are done without your explicit consent. Options may include internal exam, external exam, or a fully-clothed exam. You always get to choose what feels right for your body + you’re always allowed to change your mind.

  • Where do sessions happen?

We are pleased to provide in-home sessions within a 10-15 mile radius from Towson University.

Why in-home? Many clients feel most comfortable in the privacy of their own home + make substantial progress as we can really focus on your needs. Your home environment also provides us with helpful information that we can embed into your treatment plan.

Women who have recently given birth often find that having a therapist come to their home during the first few weeks + months dramatically improves their quality of life. Plus, you don’t have to worry about scheduling around nap times—we can include baby in our sessions if they’re awake or work together while they’re sleeping.

  • How should I prepare for my visit?

Dress comfortably in clothes you can move in. A sports bra, t-shirt + loose pants or shorts work well.

I will bring a massage table, sheets, pillow, lubricant, medical gloves, wipes + movement tools as needed (yoga mat, foam roller, exercise bands).

  • How long does it take pelvic floor therapy to work?

There are many factors to consider, like your health history, symptoms + severity of symptoms. As long as you are integrating the education + exercises from our sessions, you will typically see initial improvement within 2-3 sessions. The average number of client visits is 6-8.

  • What if I am on my period?

That’s okay! It’s a normal part of your life + as long as you feel comfortable, we carry on with therapy that week. Actually, working together during different phases of your menstrual cycle can provide valuable information about your body.
